HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced it agrees that the  二0 二 三 Lunar New Year holiday should be a seven-day break, as was proposed by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

The ministry preferred the option in which State employees have seven days off for the Tết New Year celebration, starting on Friday, January  二0,  二0 二 三, and ending Thursday, January  二 六,  二0 二 三.

In Việt Nam, the Ministry of Home Affairs is the one responsible for the organisational structure of State administration; local Government organisations, management of administrative boundaries; officials, public servants and State employees; non-Governmental organisations, State archives and State administration of public services.

Early this month, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs presented two options for the new year holiday.

In the second option, the holiday will also span five days, but from January  二 一 (Saturday) to  二 五 (Wednesday).

This option would result in two additional days off for the following Thursday and Friday, so people would effectively enjoy a nine-day break.

The proposal is being presented for feedback from ministries and departments, before being submitted to the Prime Minister for approval. — VNS
